Kitchen Design Tips
Kitchen design is a difficult skill to master with many obstacles to overcome in order to achieve success. Despite every project being
different there are a number of useful tips that apply across the board to all kitchen designs.
First and foremost, like any design project you need to sit down with a pen and
paper.
Make a list of the things you need in your kitchen, so when it comes to designing the layout, you don’t miss anything.
It’s also a useful idea to list some of the things that you can do without in your kitchen to avoid creating a cluttered and overly busy
design.
This brings me neatly onto my next point – storage.
This can be the make or break factor when designing a kitchen as the amount of storage is detriment to the final look and feel of the
space.
Too much storage will make your kitchen look tight and confining, which isn’t an ideal place to work in.
Not enough storage is also a problem because having random pots and pans lying around everywhere won’t give you a sleek, well crafted
finish.
Once you’ve completed these first two steps of listing your kitchen essentials and determining how much storage you’ll need, you’re
ready to work on the layout of your design.
Most professional kitchen designers agree on a principle that is widely regarded as the ‘triangle theory’.
This involves creating a work-efficient space that is tailored to suit your specific needs.
The triangle theory works by grouping your three most frequently used kitchen facilities in close proximity, two on one surface and one
on another, thus creating a triangle.
This will enable you to create an efficient space that works well for you.
All of these ideas will give you a great head start on designing your new kitchen, but once you’ve got your plans together, the next
stage is finding the right people to do the work.
Nowadays a lot of people opt to simply revamp their current kitchens because the basic design suits their needs.
You can get professionals in to do small jobs like change the doors and surfaces, which can have a massive impact on the look and feel
of your kitchen.
If you are going for a full blown overhaul with your kitchen design then it’s even more imperative that you find the right people to do the job. There are massive savings to be
made on things like installation right through to the cost of the units themselves.
Get at least three quotes from different companies for your new kitchen to drive the cost down and make sure you give the impression
that you’re shopping around for the best price.
If you follow all of these tips then you’ll be on the road to achieving a first class kitchen design in no time.
